SQEX President Talks FF7 Remake

The annual meeting of shareholders of Square Enix Ltd. met today and company president Yoichi Wada had some choice words on the topic of a Final Fantasy VIII remake. While this isn’t the only topic discussed, via Twitter it seems Final Fantasy Versus XIII was not mentioned during the briefing. Thanks to Asanagi of Intermezzo for the following news flashes, I’ve translated them below.

These mirrors the quotes of Tetsuya Nomura who mentioned a FF7 remake in a Famitsu interview last month.

Nomura: The new Final Fantasy must overcome the Final Fantasy of the past.

Nomura: There are a lot of people who want a remake of Final Fantasy VII. However, new titles take precedence. We work our hardest to make something that might be even better than Final Fantasy VII.

So do you think the day will ever come when a new Final Fantasy title will surpass FF7′s divine status? Or has the company reached a peak?

Come ON….. If they keep the story, keep the text, then they WILL make it even more awesome. Think about all the $$$$$ they’d get from a remake! It’d be able to support all their upcoming titles! Seriously, people won’t stop buying other new FF games because they release a remake of FFVII, actually on the other hand I can see old fans coming back and become fans again because of it! Seriosuly! Just put in as fucking many other trailers for your other games that you can and it’ll serve as the best advertising in history. Goddammnit.
